The main runway is about 6,600 ft, enough for every category on this page. One FBO on the field, run by the airport authority, and a short walk from the car to the aircraft. In season the ramp fills and parking is confirmed with the operator before anything else. Southwest Florida International in Fort Myers is about 45 minutes north of Old Naples on Interstate 75, and longer in season traffic. Its 12,000 ft runway and separate general aviation ramp make it the airport for heavy jets, large groups, and the peak weeks when Naples has no parking left. If you are staying in Bonita Springs, Estero or on Sanibel, it is often the closer airport.
PDK · DeKalb Peachtree
DeKalb Peachtree is the business jet airport on the north side of Atlanta, in Chamblee. Buckhead is 15 to 20 minutes away, Midtown 20 to 25, downtown 25 to 35, and Alpharetta or Roswell 25 to 35 minutes up Georgia 400. The main runway is about 6,000 ft, fine for the light, midsize and super midsize jets on this page. Several FBOs and no airline traffic, so no airline delays. The ramp fills on big event weekends, so we confirm parking early.
FTY · Fulton County Airport, Brown Field
Fulton County Airport, which locals call Charlie Brown Field, is on the west side of Atlanta. It is 15 to 20 minutes to downtown, the stadium district and West Midtown, and 25 to 35 minutes to Buckhead. The main runway is about 5,800 ft, which works for light and midsize jets and many super midsize jets. It wins when you are staying west of the connector, and it is the backup when PDK parking is gone.

What a pilot would tell you about this leg.
Naples season runs from about Thanksgiving through Easter. The tightest weeks are Thanksgiving, Christmas through New Year, Presidents Day weekend, the March spring break run and the first week of April, when Atlanta area schools usually break. In those weeks Florida based aircraft are booked early, and an Atlanta based aircraft is often the one that flies this leg in either direction. Friday afternoon southbound and Sunday afternoon northbound are the crowded slots. Summer is easier on availability, with afternoon thunderstorms on both ends from June to September that crews plan around.
- Atlanta traffic decides the airport more than the flight does. Tell us where you are staying and we pick the closer field with you.
- Atlanta afternoon traffic starts early. A landing at PDK before 3 pm keeps the drive to Buckhead short.
- If you can move a Friday or Sunday departure a few hours either way in season, say so. It opens up more aircraft.
- The flight is short enough that a light jet is the usual choice, even for six. Step up to a midsize when you want a stand up cabin or extra bags.
- Both airports are general aviation only, so a weather delay at Hartsfield Jackson does not touch your trip.
