Citation X
The Citation X is the super midsize jet built for speed. It cruises well above the rest of the category, near Mach 0.90, and it has about 3,100 nautical miles of range, so it trims a three hour leg by 15 to 20 minutes and a coast to coast leg by more. The cabin is the trade: about 5 ft 8 in high and 5 ft 6 in wide, closer to a midsize jet than to a Latitude or a Challenger, with eight seats in a double club. Clients pick it for the long leg where the time matters: Dallas to New York, Naples to Chicago, Nashville to the West Coast. It is an aircraft we place clients on regularly from our sourcing network.

How we estimate bag counts
We allow 60 to 80% of the listed baggage volume for packing. Assumed external dimensions: checked bag 28 × 20 × 12 in; golf travel bag 50 × 16 × 12 in; weekend bag 22 × 12 × 12 in. Counts are rounded down and show separate loads, not a combined allowance. Unspecified extra storage is excluded.

The Citation X burns more fuel per hour than the rest of the category, and on a leg under about two hours it saves only minutes, so a pilot checks whether the time saved is worth the difference before recommending it. On a long leg it usually is.
- The airframe year. Some of the Citation Xs we see were built before 2005, so the tail either meets the standard or gets the written exception review: inspection history, recent heavy checks, and avionics and interior updates.
- Baggage. The bay is outside the cabin, about 80 cubic feet, and you cannot reach it in flight. Skis and long cases need a look at the door and the bay before we quote.

How fast is the Citation X?
It cruises near Mach 0.90, about 500 knots through the air, and the newer X+ is a little faster. On a coast to coast leg that saves about 35 to 40 minutes against a Latitude or a Challenger. On a two hour leg it saves about 15 minutes, which is why a pilot looks at the length of the trip before recommending it.
Is the Citation X cabin big enough for eight?
Eight seats in a double club is the usual layout, and eight adults fit for a two to three hour leg. The cabin is about 5 ft 8 in high and 5 ft 6 in wide, so it is a midsize cabin with super midsize range and speed. If you want to stand straight and move around, look at the Latitude or the Challenger 300 and 3500 instead.
How much does a Citation X charter cost?
